Fraudulent emails

The ABA Division for Bar Services is monitoring the rise in fraudulent emails to various state bar members which appear to be sent by the bars’ presidents. We are aware of this happening in Florida, Georgia and California. *(Please see the email below from the Alabama State Bar)

Thank you.

*We have had a couple of problems with Montgomery and Huntsville bar members who received mal ware that is a spoof of a disciplinary notice from the local bar. The lawyer is instructed to click on the link if they want to view the complaint. This opens a zip file that loads ransom ware on their computer and they must pay a ransom to get their computer unlocked. We are sending a general warning to all members.
