- Congratulations on having passed the examination for admittance to the State Bar of Michigan.
The New Lawyers Section of the Washtenaw County Bar Association has arranged an admission ceremony for you on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 am. It will be held in courtroom #8 on the second floor of the Washtenaw County Courthouse at 101 E. Huron Street in Ann Arbor. The Honorable Nancy C. Francis presiding.
Following the ceremony, the New Lawyers will host a reception for the new lawyers and their guests in courtroom #7 on the second floor of the courthouse.
If you are interested in attending, please contact Court Services at (734) 222-3001 to be put on the list. They will need your name and address, and the name of your sponsor, if you have one. (In order for you to be sworn in to the Michigan Bar, an attorney licensed to practice in Michigan must act as your sponsor and move for your admission to the bar.)
If you do not have a sponsor, you may contact Co-Presidents of the New Lawyers Section, Mark Jane (734) 995-3110 or Bonnie Shaw (734) 302-6000 who will arrange for a member of the New Lawyers Section to move for your admission.
You then need to bring your letter of certification (the original, not a copy, you can not keep the original) to Court Services on the first floor of the Washtenaw County Courthouse by noon on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 and be prepared to pay a $25.00 admission fee, payable to the Washtenaw County Clerk.
